The executive committee of the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC), following their latest meeting held last week, has announced that the round one of the highly anticipated Drag Championship has been rescheduled from March 15th to a date to be determined in April.
The reason for the date change has been cited as a move to create the best atmosphere for the fans, while allowing for maximum participation by drivers who are currently working along with mechanics to get their machines race ready.
A source close to the club has revealed that at least five cars from neighbouring Suriname are expected for round one of the Championship.
Round one of the 2019 Drag Championship was recorded as the biggest drag meet in Guyana with thousands of fans in attendance. And, recently reelected head of the Club along with new vice-president Shairaz Roshandin are working along with everyone to ensure another successful round one showing in 2020.
Dereck Jaisingh in his Jumbo Jet Auto Sales Toyota Supra, speed away with the unlimited class series in the last drag race meet in 2020 but Team Mohamed’s racing are sure to return with blazing times in 2020 to stake claim to the drag racing crown. (CC)
