DEAR EDITOR,
I am writing this letter highlighting an issue which I am being victimized for whatever reason. I have been a resident of the North Ruimveldt community for in excess of 30 years. I have been occupying the land situated at South of 2560 North Ruimveldt. During this time I would have spent in excess of $600,000 (and still spending) on clearing and building up of the land which was initially a swampy area.
I December 2016 I would have filed for papers concerning ownership of the land. In June 2019 I would have been told that approval was granted. To this date I am yet to collect such documents.
I have been back and forth between two district departments within the Guyana Lands and Surveys and am at a distressing stage, since they would have informed me of the approval.
I had made a living mainly through agricultural crops and this had to be discontinued as I was also barred from erecting a fence, thus allowing animals to destroy my crops and plants.
Editor, I cannot confirm at this moment, but it is my strong opinion that individuals are in collusion with others to “defraud” me of what should have been granted to me, for their personal reasons of course.
In addition to highlighting my problem, any advise on the direction I should take pertaining to moving forward would be greatly appreciated.
Michael George
