– Claims to be friend of U.S. President, Pope’s secret agent
By Trishan Craig
A French national who yesterday told the court that she is a Secret Agent for Pope Francis and her children were kidnapped by Mafia members, was yesterday remanded to prison for allegedly entering Guyana without presenting herself to an immigration officer.
Sylvie Janine Dubose was brought before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts to have the charge read to her. This was done with the assistance of a French interpreter.
It was alleged that between December 15, 2019 and December 20, 2019 at Springlands, Corentyne, Dubose entered Guyana by sea and disembarked without the consent of an immigration officer.
A not guilty plea was entered on the defendant’s behalf after she said that she went to an immigration officer, but they did not give her an entry stamp as there was no immigration stamp in her passport from Suriname.
Police Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield related the facts of the charge which stated that on January 4, last, the defendant was arrested at the Eugene F. Correia International Airport after it was observed by an immigration officer that there was no entry stamp in her passport.
Dubose was placed in custody at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters, where further investigations were carried out. These revealed that she entered Guyana via port Springlands from Suriname. The prosecutor also said that her passport only has stamps from Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil.
At the Ogle airport, she was allegedly an outgoing passenger heading to the United States of America (USA). The present charge was then made out against her.
With further assistance by the interpreter, the defendant told the court that her children were kidnapped, because she is a member of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for the past 14 years. She also added that she is a Secret Service agent for Pope Francis.
Furthermore, the defendant indicated that she is a French and American citizen. Dubose related that her children were kidnapped five months ago by members of a Mafia gang in Brazil and the father of her children was murdered.
The defendant told the court that she came to Guyana so that she can get an airplane ticket to travel to Brazil and also seek assistance from the United States (US) embassy, since she is a friend of US President Donald Trump who had assisted her to get her children. This was after she met with difficulties in French Guiana to obtain airplane tickets.
After listening to both sides, Chief Magistrate McLennan remanded the defendant and adjourned the matter to January 13, when she is expected to make her next court appearance at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court.
Efforts will also be made to contact Interpol for details on the defendant.
