Last Monday in Florida, Central Zonal Council beat Guyana Floodlights by five runs under lights in thrilling last over finish to the USA Open U-15 cricket Final.
With five to get from six balls and eight wickets down, Rajeev Ramnauth polished off the tail with his first two deliveries.
Ramnauth’s unbeaten 38 and 15 from Raul Ali rallied Central Zonal Council to 84-5 from 20 overs as Mavendra Dindyal followed up his 3-5 in the semi-finals with 2-15 from his four overs.
Floodlights replied with 79 all out in 19.2 overs, despite a run a ball 22 with three boundaries from Jonathan Van Lange.
But Dindyal, fresh off a match winning unbeaten 38 in the semi-finals earlier in the day, could only make 13, while Alvin Mohabir’s 10 was the only other double figure score for the Guyanese team who ended as the runners-up.
