With the acquisition of the services and expertise of Cuban high level coach Mr. Osdani Romero Garcia, who is in Guyana for a two month training and coaching stint and coming off of the key domestic championships, the Guyana Table Tennis Association has identified and named a group of talented young players to benefit from coach Mr. Osdani Romero Garcia expertise.
The group has been selected based on their performance in domestic competitions, technical and tactical skills and players with aptitude, discipline, talent and dubbed “Guyana’s With the Future in Mind Table Tennis Prospects (mimicking the ITTF programme which target young talented prospects), seeks to provide a platform for the players with potential to benefit from high level training engagement.
This target group is between the ages of 12 to 16 years old. The GTTA plan is to engage these players in training and coaching activities utilizing the services of Coach Osdani Romero Garcia after schools within schools and weekend programmes.
“The programme is geared towards providing high quality training provision and services for young talented athletes we believe have the potential to be future representatives of Guyana in view of improving and accelerating their technical and tactical abilities, transition, correct approach, discipline, knowledge and concepts towards training and improving players performance with the central aim of assisting players in the realization of their true potential and developing a core of athletes with the potential to represent their schools, regions, organizations nationally and Guyana,” a release stated.
In this regard the executive committee will be looking to expand this list of players, however, the body has identified and invited the following players to benefit from the high level training engagement.

Mr. Romero Garcia is a graduate from the University Sancti Spiritus, Jose Marti Perez, Cuba with a degree in Sports Science and Physical Education and a diploma in High Performance training, he has had considerable experience working in Venezuela and Mexico over the last four (4) years with a great measure of success producing quality players, he is also a lead coach in Cuba national team programme. His players are Daniela Fonseca 2019 Caribbean Female and under-21 and Women’s Champion 2019 and Livian Martinez 2019 Caribbean Men’s under-21 gold medalist and men’s singles bronze medalist among others.
