Fires and road accidents are the occurrences of this time of year. This month alone nearly a dozen people have died on the roads. There will be another fatality this time east of the city.
A speeding car will collide with a parked object.

Petty robberies are giving the impression that Guyana is fast becoming a crime capital. That is because many aimless young men want money in their pockets to feed a drug habit.
The police will be pushed to go for the drug pushers and there will be some success but the petty robberies will continue.

The Guyana Police Force will be in the spotlight again, but for the wrong reason. Many of its former members have joined criminal enterprise. One of them is currently in custody being prepared for court in a murder/robbery matter.
The police commissioner will say that he has no control of people’s thinking, sparking further debate on whether the force is training criminals.
