Oct 20, 2019 Letters
I have been out of circulation for a while but I am moved to pen this letter on a few issues:
1. I saw on TV the other day, the Regional Chairperson of Region 1, Barima/Waini and Deputy on Television mouthing off a series of allegations about the Government and the Administration of Region 1. I have no problem with critiques but I must ask if these two armchair quarterbacks could let the people of Region 1 and moreso, Guyana know of some of the projects which they initiated and which were successful. They do nothing but talk when they are prompted by their masters. They receive fat salaries under false pretense and have no moral authority to speak on any Regional or National issues. The Regional Chairman, like his Presidential candidate, mentions on his CV that ‘he went to the University of Guyana’. Maybe, he ‘went’ to collect a parcel but definitely not a Certificate of any sort. Next time he goes public, the RC should explain how many cases of sexual exploitation were covered up when he served as Probation Officer in Region 1.
2. The Mayor of Mabaruma seems not to know his real functions. He spends more time trying to deflate the Clerk of the Council than leading from in front. It seems FB is one of his employees because he spends more time putting the Council’s business out on FB before looking at developing the town for which he has stewardship. He, too, has done nothing to further develop the Municipality. His Deputy has some outstanding questions to answer to some business people about some cheques which were endorsed and cashed. Then she now gives out contracts to her close (close) relative and those works are a mess. Guess the poor Mayor cannot see the wrong doings since he could not even recognize which speech was his to read at a function recently and did not realize it until someone stopped him. He probably thought that he had suddenly become intelligent. Sorry, no fairy godmothers around now to turn rags to riches.
3. Editor, I understand also that there is a certain arrangement that when a Health Official’s friend wants his lover to travel to the city to spend time with him, she is sent out either as a referred patient and travels in back being referred to as Dr****when the flight is called up. If this is true then it is not right. Maybe the RC and his Deputy forgot to mention this in their ramblings on TV. I do not wish to take up more space now but I will continue to write.
