Sans Souci Jaguars and Maria’s Pleasure registered victories when the Wakenaam Cricket Committee/Rubis Bel Air and Trophy stall T20 competition commenced on Sunday last at the Wakenaam Community Centre ground.
Sans Souci Jaguars defeated Zeelandia by 41 runs in the opening fixture. Sans Souci Jaguars batted first and scored 120-9. Safraz Mohamed stroked 23 while Siddiq Mohamed made 18. Jashpaul Gangaram claimed 3-19 and Mohindra Jadookool 2-22.
Zeelandia were bowled out for 79 in 19 overs in reply. Ryan Atkinson made 12 as Zameer Zaman grabbed 4-11.
Maria’s Pleasure overcame G Square Cavaliers by eight wickets in the afternoon fixture. G Square Cavaliers took first strike and were sent packing for 90 in 19.2 overs. Romario Stephen made 27 while Beesham Bhagpattie scored 17 as Vinood Persaud picked up 3-17. Maria’s Pleasure responded with 95-2 in 13 overs. Leorayan Ramlakhan led the chase, smashing one four and seven sixes in a robust 60, while Timothy Singh made 16. Satnarine Sahadeo captured 2-23.
