President David Granger accompanied by his wife First Lady, Sandra Granger, departed Guyana yesterday morning for the Republic of Cuba.
The Head of State has travelled to Cuba to undergo a scheduled medical evaluation by doctors of the Centro de Investigaciones Medico Quirurgicas (CIMEQ).
President Granger was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma last year after an intensive series of tests by specialist doctors at the CIMEQ. It was reported that the President was suffering from symptoms that have been worrying enough for him to head to Cuba to seek medical attention.
Last year, the President stated that he was experiencing certain symptoms, which were persistent and took the decision to travel overseas to undergo a medical check-up which was expected to determine the cause of the symptoms.
President Granger is scheduled to return to Guyana next week.
