Lake Mainstay Resort in collaboration with Ministry of Business Department of Tourism will be hosting its 19th annual Regatta on August 11 at magnificent fresh water lake, Mainstay/Whyaka village on the Essequibo Coast.
Dubbed the “Clash of the Daredevils”, the event pits Neil Gonsalves and Team from Pomeroon against Dave Scott and Team from Bartica in 13 Categories of Power Boat Racing. The races include; 3 – 15 HP – 2 laps Male/Female Race; 2 – 40 HP – 3 Laps Male/Female Race, 3 – 90 HP – 4 Laps Male/Female Race, 2 – 200 HP – 5 Laps Male/Female Race, 3 – Open HP – 6 Laps Male/Female Race, 1 – 200 M – Male Canoe Race, 1 – 200 M – Female Canoe Race, 1 – 200 M – Open Swimming.
A memorial race in the 90 HP category will also be held in honour of Orin Bell. There will be over four million dollars in cash prizes and trophies to be won.
Lake Mainstay Resort Regattas have grown over the years and gained the reputation to be well organized, disciplined and the biggest in Guyana over the past five years.
A release from the organisation stated, “We are promoting a family event and anticipate in excess of 8,000 patrons from overseas and locals from across the Country, especially the Essequibo Coast, Region 2. This event will be massive and entertaining. Management advises all attending to be early to secure a vantage spot to enjoy the many racing events all day long.”
The admission fee is; Advance: Adults $1000 and Children $500; at the Gate: Adults $1200 and Children $700. The gates will be opened from 09:00 hrs and Regatta events will commence at 11:00 hrs.
Following the regatta races, will be a stage show and beach party with the following artistes; AW Lyrical Dancehall / Soca Artist, Vicadi Chutney/Soca, Josie Chutney/Soca, Brandon Harding 2018 & 2019 Soca Monarch, DJ Avalanche DJ, Lyndon Jumbie Jones M.C & Comedian, Pream’s Mega Sounds Essequibo Champion Music Fusion, Children Fun Park Merry Go Round, Trampoline & Castle, Food Court Lake Mainstay Resort’s delicious meals & Others, Beverage Bars Banks Beer, Stag Beer, DDL & Xtra Beer.
The event is being sponsored by Banks Beer, Stag, Castrol, GBTI, Digicel, Pepsi, Ganesh Mining, Clear Waters, Valvoline and Industrial Supply of Guyana Inc.
