E’bo trucker shot and robbed of gold chain.

A trucker who lives at Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast, is fortunate to be alive after he was shot and robbed of his gold chain last Friday night.

“The trucker who was shot, Omadat Singh.”
“The Gunshot wound.”

Based on reports, the truck driver, Omadat Singh, was greeted by gunshots when he arrived at his lot 1&2 Onderneeming home Friday night about 19:45 hrs.
The 40-year-old man told this publication that he had just returned from Charity, and was securing his truck in his yard at the time of the incident.
“I come from Charity and I drive in the yard. I jump out and was winding up the window, when I hear a gunshot. I thought the truck battery burn. When I turn round and lock the door, I heard another shot and when I look up I see the man standing in front of me with a gun,” said Singh.
Singh told Kaieteur News that the first round brushed his left leg, but the second missed completely. The man went on to say, “I ask him why he keep shooting at me and he said he wanted the chain, so I give he.” The man said that the gold chain weighs some 120 pennyweight and values about $1 million.
Over the past three months, there have been a series of armed robberies in the Onderneeming Community. In three of them, the victims were shot.
In May, a pump attendant was shot in the hand and robbed of his gold band. In June, a woman was shot in the foot and her family was robbed of $3000.
The similarity with all three cases, is that the suspect was described exactly the same. Singh described the man as being, ‘Thin, Afro Guyanese, wearing a black and white hoodie, with a black and white bandana tied over the mouth.”
The shells retrieved by police after last Friday’s shooting, matched a 9mm pistol; a similar weapon used in the last armed robberies.
