The driver of the truck that killed 7-year-old Ciarra Benjamin on the Agricola Public Road, East Bank Demerara, last Saturday (1st June, 2019) was very unfortunate. ”A child always comes first;” my deepest sympathy to the Benjamin’s family, but the driver should not have been battered by the residents and thereafter his truck torched. The East Bank Demerara Highway is very imperative to all citizens, it is the only road that connects Georgetown with East Bank, West Bank and West Coast of Demerara.
This is a wake-up call to the National Security Committee to establish a permanent joint services operation centre on the Agricola Public Road to maintain law and order as our country is gearing for oil and gas.
Yours faithfully,
Parmanand Ram
