DEAR EDITOR,
It seems as if we are living in a changing world. I came to this conclusion following recent events. The latest is the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has named a Sri Lankan to head the world renowned cricket body which is regarded as the headquarters of cricket. A half black, Meghan Markle, is now a member of the royal family; a negro, Barak Obama was elected to the White House, and now a few democrats are fighting tooth and nail for socialism to be introduced to the United States.
MCC, which was founded in 1787 with headquarters at Lord Cricket Ground in London, during its long history was always headed by a white Brit, now an Indian (Sri Lankan) is elected to take over next year. Kumar Sangakkhara, former Sri Lankan captain, now a commentator was chosen to head the world renowned organisation, which raised eyebrows in many quarters. Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan, a black American, who was previously married, is now a member of the Royal family. The Queen is quite happy with Harry’s spouse and she is waiting to greet her mixed race great grandchild. Barak Obama whose father was from Kenya was elected the first black President of the US in 2008 and he was re-elected for another four-year term in 2012, and now Senator Bernie Sanders, a strong advocate for socialism who wants inmates convicted of murder and other serious crimes to vote, is getting strong supports from three young lawmakers, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, and Ilan Omar. Omar made the ridiculous statement that “US policy helped to provoke the devastation in Venezuela”. Presidential candidate Kamala Harris also has strong views about the voting rights of felons.
One wonders what’s next at this time in our history with rapid improvement in technology and radical thinking and attitudes of humans. The big question being asked in Guyana… will funds from the oil be trickled down to the ordinary man in the street? Moreover, will some of the money be used to improve the roads and infrastructure?

(Kaieteur News) – There is no question that Guyanese would have noticed the brooch worn by Delcy Rodríguez during her recent visits to Grenada and Barbados. Hard Truths by GHK Lall (Kaieteur News) – For those with Biblical contexts, it said: “no man can serve two masters at the same time.” Sage advice due to its practicality. Divided loyalty is one.
