Unbeaten half centuries from Latchman Kallicharran and Nandram Samlall handed Wellman Masters a five-wicket victory over Regal Masters when the teams collided in a 25-over softball contest sponsored by Trophy Stall on Sunday last at GNIC SC.
Batting first, Regal Masters posted 195-7 in 25 overs. Eric Thomas struck one four and eight sixes in a top score of 63 not out while Mahase Chunilall made 35, Rudolph Baker 21 and Khalid Haslim 19; Sheldon Perch claimed 3-23.
In reply, Wellman Masters were reduced to 49-5; however Latchman Kallicharran and Nandram Samlall steadied the chase nicely with resolute batting. The duo added an unbroken fifth wicket stand of 147 to see their team home as they ended on 196-5 in 23 overs. Kallicharran struck eight fours and three sixes in a top score of 74 while Samlall made 72 which contained five fours and six sixes. Laurie Singh claimed 3-32.
