The second semi final of the Georgetown Cricket Association New Building Society second division 40-over tournament culminated on Sunday night last at the Demerara Cricket Club. Georgetown Cricket
Club won the encounter against Muslim Youth Organisation by one wicket to set up a final date with Everest Cricket Club.
MYO opted to bat and managed 176 all out in 36.1 overs. Vinash Rampersaud struck 47, while Rudolph Singh made 28, Shafiek Ishmael 25 and Richard Latif 20. Bowling for GCC, Carlos La Rose claimed 3-16, Devon Lord 3-45, Gavin Singh 2-24 and Stephon Wilson 2-29.
GCC encountered some nervous moments before they eventually won the game in 31.3 overs as they finished on 177-9. Ronaldo Ali Mohamed struck seven fours and three sixes in a top score of 67, while Timothy McAlmont made 21. Bernard Bailey and Stephon Wilson were unbeaten on nine each when victory was achieved. Saheed Gittens bagged 5-32 and Timur Mohamed 2-37. Everest CC beat Police by 56 runs in their semi final match which ended on Saturday night at the said venue.
