DEAR EDITOR,

It is becoming clearer every day that the opposition leader and his propagandists are all bent on seeing our country plunge into chaos and ethnic violence. These politicians feel they can rally those sugar workers who they neglected during the period of their rule for those 23 years in government, they closed Leonora and Diamond Sugar Estates. Did they offer the land to the cane cutters? No!
They sold the land at Leonora to ED Ahmad who ended up in US jail for robbing unsuspecting persons in a major fraud scheme, then the land at Diamond, they sold that to DDL. That is the love they shared with the poor of the sugar estates. How foolish it is to state that they will reopen the sugar estates, and in the same breath state that it will not be profitable.
It is a wicked act to give the poor false hope; they will soon find out that they are being abused by a selfish opposition leader and his colleagues. They would do anything to see the collapse of the coalition Government so they won’t head for the courts to face charges instituted against them for robbing the Guyanese nation.
They do not care about us the underprivileged, so they want to see our children remain in the cane fields while they remain the masters of our fate, the PPP LEADERSHIP and GAWU know full well that for sugar to be profitable, we must change the mode of harvesting by using machines to harvest the cane. The world is transforming robotics and Cyber training are necessary skills in a modern day society. Our youths need to retrain and retool the focus of President David Granger Green State Development Strategy.
The PPP 23 years in government saw the enrichment of individuals, mostly their friends and family, their supporters are well aware of that, they know all those who were raping GUYSUCO, they were paying super salaries to the administrative Officers, an example is the CEO getting almost 3 million dollars per month plus allowances, while Jagdeo pays himself 3 MILLION dollars per month plus perks.
There are reports that gullible supporters will be called to behave disorderly and hence face dire circumstances, because those that have been marginalized under the previous administration will not allow the PPP to run rough shod over our beloved President and supporters of the coalition Government.
In opposition, President David Arthur Granger has championed the cause of peace, and was able to avert the threat that was so imminent during the Pre and Post 2015 election period.
The oil is the factor that creates great anxiety in the opposition camp and who knows what they are planning, whatever seed they plant their harvest will be plentiful.
I call on the young people of this nation to unite and experience a prosperous economy where we can all benefit handsomely and live quite happily with our families. This may not be comfortable for those who want to see us at each other’s throats in ethnic rivalry.
