Duo before court for wounding each other

Rajesh Pollard and Shemar Williams were yesterday brought before a city magistrate after a heated argument between the two parties resulted in them wounding each other.
The two defendants appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where they denied their individual wounding charges when they were read to them.
In the case of Pollard, it was alleged that on February 10, 2019 at Duke Street, Kingston Georgetown, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Williams with intent to maim, disfigure, disable or cause grievous bodily harm to the said victim.
For Williams, it was alleged that on the same date and location, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Pollard.
Pollard was represented by attorney-at-law George Thomas who made an application for reasonable bail to be granted. He informed the court that his client is 44 years old. He said that the accused is a vendor who resides in Kingston, Georgetown.
The attorney also highlighted that Pollard is married and has three children. He further indicated that Pollard was released on self-bail during the investigation of the matter and has been complying with the conditions of the police.
The court was told that Williams is 18 years old, and a student who hails from Fourth Street Alberttown, Georgetown.
His attorney asked that the court should consider the fact that Williams is a full-time student with a stable family background. He also emphasized that his client has no previous charges or convictions.
Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield had no objections for bail to be granted to either of the accused. Bail was granted to the tune of $50,000 for each of the men. The matter was adjourned until March 25, for statements into the case.
