I read with some measure of shame the unwarranted attack on STEMGuyana by an obviously fake profile advocating for the Ministry Education.
Two years ago, my then 11-year-old begged me to take him to Georgetown for a robotics exhibition. We live in New Amsterdam, so it was with some effort that we managed to attend.
That exhibition was life-changing for my son who has since become a Lego building fan and now insists that he wants to be an engineer. Since 2017, I have been enquiring about a club for New Amsterdam and last weekend one was finally launched. Editor, over 50 children attended, and I’m proud to say my son was one of them.
I said all that to say that it is clear that the STEMGuyana leaders have made a significant sacrifice to roll out this programme all across Guyana, and I want to say unequivocally that we are grateful.
Ugly attacks like the one launched by the fake profile dissuade good people from contributing. It is shameful and we should stop it.
Ashamed,
Patriotic Guyanese
