Sales rep gets 9 charges for assaulting police, resisting arrest

Jenlisa Fordyce was yesterday hauled before the court and made to answer to nine charges in which she was accused of being in possession of a dangerous weapon, assaulting four police officers and resisting arrest.
The defendant informed the court that she is 22-year-old and is a sales representative at a pawn shop.

Fordyce pleaded not guilty to the first seven charges after it was read out to her by Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The first three charges alleged that the accused on February 21, 2019 at Brickdam, in the vicinity of the Route 32 Minibus Park, Georgetown, she unlawfully assaulted police officers Welcome, Joseph and Reynolds.
It was further alleged that Fordyce, on the same date and at the same location, obstructed Police Officer Welcome and Reynolds, who were acting in the execution of their duties, by resisting arrest.
The court also heard that on February 24, 2019, at the Brickdam Police Station, Fordyce assaulted Police Officer Morris, who was acting in the execution of his duties.

She was also charged for obstructing Officer Morris, who was acting in the execution of his duties by resisting arrest on February 24, 2019, at the Brickdam Police Station.
Fordyce was also slapped with two other charges which alleged that on February 21, 2019 at Brickdam, in the vicinity of the Route 32 Minibus Park, Georgetown, she had a sharp edge blade in her possession and also made use of threatening behaviour towards Police Officer Joseph.
The accused admitted to these two charges after it was read out to her.
Police Prosecutor Adduni Inniss had no objections to bail being granted to the accused therefore, Magistrate Daly granted same to the tune of $170,000 for the seven charges to which the woman pleaded not guilty.
Furthermore, she was fined $40,000 for the other two that she admitted to. These matters were adjourned until March 4, 2019 when Fordyce is expected to return to court for the charges she denied.
