I bring greetings to my Guyanese brothers and sisters in the name of the Creator of Heaven and Earth.
We are a blessed nation, one in which as a people we can live in peace and prosperity, free from selfishness and greed.
We are an intelligent people with the potential to reach even higher heights; I and I must be forever concerned for the security of our children and ourselves. The world is watching us, are we going to disintegrate into chaos and anarchy to please the enemies of peace.
I call on the nation to enter into dialogue and ask yourselves, should we allow ourselves and our communities to be used as tools to promote violence and as such tarnish our good standing in the international arena?
Over the last three years, thousands of young people have been trained and exposed to technical and vocational skills; ICT has taken off. These young people can now use online programmes to further their career development, as the oil flows and businesses abound they will all be employed.
Community Centres
It is in these centres, projects and programmes are born – great physical and mental prowess gives rise to blooming communities, love and respect remains the hallmark for national development. We are a blessed people, it is not by chance, it is the Creator’s will that we are made custodians of his treasure house, so let’s live that respect for each other, for a few years down the line we will all be passed into eternity. This time is to be enjoyed, this is the time to realize the good life. Let us leave footprints on the sands of time, let us leave a legacy of Paradise, make the world want to travel and behold the beauty and serenity of our Eco-tourism sites.
Hinterland Development
Our hinterland development must be grounded in resettlement , for here is where our wealth lies waiting for its pioneering children – the gold, diamond , manganese, bauxite ,oil, our rivers with an abundance of fish, rich agricultural lands , yet we stay on the coast and allow foreigners to take up the land, while we engage in needless fights.
Come on young people, discover Guyana, visit the hinterland with your social clubs and sports teams, visit the inhabitants of the hinterland from whom we can all learn, and they likewise. It is the youthful energy that will traverse the mountains, hills, valleys and gulleys. It is the elders who must share with the adventurers their experiences, having lived and worked in the hinterland while maintaining their families on the coastland
We must not only see our hinterland as “bush” but a Paradise waiting to rise from beneath the sea.
What we need is love and respect; war is not the answer. Let us continue to be governed by the Constitution as it remains firmly in the hands of a caring President and Government.
