Alex Matthias, who was arrested and charged for the murder of 20-year-old Kevin Betancourt, was yesterday remanded to prison.
Matthias appeared before magistrate Esther Sam in the Suddie Magistrate’s Court, charged for murder. He was not required to plead to the charge in court yesterday, and was remanded to prison until January 25.
On December 21, last, Kevin Betancourt, was apparently in the wrong place at the wrong time. Mother of the deceased explained that on the day, he visited the Pomona residence to collect his sneakers from a friend there.
Instead of meeting his friend, the Betancourt came across Alex Matthias. Assuming that deceased was there for trouble, Matthias whipped out a knife and dealt him one stab to the left side chest, and cuts to the neck.
