Ann’s Grove East Coast Demerara has received a cheque for $2M from the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) for a community development project.

Commissioner of GGMC Newell Dennison (right) hands over the cheque to members of the Neighbourhood Democratic Council and others.
The cheque was handed over on Saturday by the Commissioner at GGMC, Newell Dennison. According to Dennison, the project will be monitored and a final report must be submitted whether it is good or bad.
“This is a learning exercise. We would like and expect it to be a success but we have had some shortcomings and some outcomes that we did not anticipate. It is part of the learning process and must be faithfully documented.”
Groups from the community had submitted proposals for various development projects to the GGMC during Mining Week 2018 activities. It is expected that the projects will benefit the community directly and specifically target women and children.
