High winds cut power to Corentyne
At approximately 07:00 hrs yesterday, two poles on the L22 Transmission Line fell due to the inclement weather and unusually high winds.
According to the Guyana Power and Light Inc, as a result, customers from Auchlyne to Moleson Creek, Corentyne, Berbice, experienced an interruption in the supply of electricity until 10:35 hrs., when a temporary reconfiguration of the circuits was done.
Following the completion of remedial work, a brief service interruption for approximately one hour would have been required to restore the circuits to their normal configuration, GPL explained.
Every effort was made to minimize the duration of the interruption and inconvenience to customers.
