Police ranks on patrols in ‘A’ & ‘D’ Divisions have arrested six men during three stop and search operations between Friday and Saturday morning.
The police in a release said the men were found to be in possession of three handguns and 21 live rounds.
The first weapon without ammunition was found in possession of a 40-year-old labourer of Buzz Bee Dam, Craig East Bank Demerara, about 07:30hrs on Friday.
The second gun along with 14 rounds was found on a 22 year-old resident of Curtis Street, Albouystown, in Third Street, Agricola about 09:30hrs last Friday.
The third weapon with seven rounds was found on one of four persons intercepted in a vehicle at the western end of the Demerara Harbour Bridge about 00:20h yesterday; two of the quartet are from Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara, and the others of Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.
