Guyanese among five escapees from Trini detention facility
Trinidad police are currently searching for five detainees who escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre, Wallerfield, on Thursday.
Missing are Krishna Bailey, a 22-year-old Jamaican national; Ryan Badal, a 23-year-old Guyanese national; and three Venezuelan nationals; 24-year-old Rodney Noel Reyes Mendoza; 27-year-old Jose Luiz Ramirez Yanez and 32-year-old Luis Carlos Sifontes, a report in the Trinidad Express said.
Another report said that the five men were last seen at 3pm.
The five may have sneaked out during an event there Thursday afternoon.
CNC3 News spoke to a senior official at the event, who said officers did not discover that the five men were missing until hours later.
During a routine head count around eleven, officers realised five of the 107 detainees could not be found.
Arima police are combing communities near the Centre, which is located along the eastern main road in Aripo, to find the men.
