Schoolboy who assaulted head teacher sent home with parents

Despite objections, the teen accused of beating a school teacher thus causing her injuries about her body, and was subsequently charged with wounding, has been sent home with his parents.
After some delay and back and forth, the teen appeared before Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh in the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court on a charge of wounding.
The 16-year-old of Number Nine village, West Coast Berbice, attends the Number Eight Secondary School. He is accused of wounding Gangadai Isaacs, the acting Head Teacher of Number 5 Primary School on Saturday December 1 at Number Nine village.

On the first occasion he failed to appear in court and a summons was issued for his appearance.
According to Police Prosecutor Corporal Racquel Mars, around 16:30 on the day in question, Isaacs, her two children and niece were on their way to her mother’s residence when they were confronted by the teen who barged into them. He then kissed her and as she tried to retaliate, he began raining blows on her.
She received injuries to her face which was swollen, her chest and lower body.
When the matter was called, the teen pleaded not guilty and was released in the custody of his mother.
