The KFC Goodwill schools’ football tournament kicks off this Saturday at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground and will feature three local teams along with Trinidad and Tobago’s (T&T) Champions; Shiva’s Hindu College.
The competition will be decided using the round-robin format with three playing days; the 15th, 18th and 22nd of this month.
Annai Secondary of Region nine along with the recent Guyoil/Tradewind Tankers school league Champions; Annandale Secondary and runners up, Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School (CWSS) will be challenging the very strong T&T unit for the inaugural KFC Goodwill Cup.
Yesterday, at Trophy Stall’s South Road location, the entity presented Troy Mendonca who is the Director of the tournament’s organising body (Petra Organisation) with trophies that will used in the historic event.
“On behalf of Petra Organisation, I would like to extend a big thank you to Ramesh (Sunich – Proprietor of Trophy Stall) for his contribution towards the anticipated success of this inaugural KFC Schools’ Goodwill tournament”, Mendonca posited during the simple but significant handing over ceremony.
“Trophy Stall has always been a partner with Petra who are known to be actively involved in the development of football in Guyana. And, as these organisers embark to extend their reach into the region, we couldn’t be happier with the ambition and our support is automatic”, explained Trophy Stall’s Kevin Eshwar.

Trophy Stall’s representative Kevin Eshwar presents Petra Organisation’s Troy Mendonca with one of the trophies during a photo-op yesterday.
The fixtures of the tournament have been released and each day’s play will witness a double header with games at 17:00hrs and 19:00hrs.
Saturday’s games will see CWSS playing Annandale first before Annai clash with Shiva’s Hindu College in the feature match.
On the 18th, CWSS will play Annai first followed by feature play between Annandale and Shiva’s Hindu College.
And, the final match day will pit Annandale against Annai at 17:00hrs while the final match of the tournament will be an anticipated clash between Linden’s CWSS and the fearsome youngsters from T&T at 19:00hrs.
