A Joint Services patrol (Guyana Police Force and Guyana Defence Force), under the command of an army captain, has
arrested a 29-year-old Spanish-speaking illegal immigrant.
The arrest occurred Friday around 21:00hrs. The man had an unlicensed 9mm pistol, two magazines and 15 rounds of live ammunition, police said yesterday.
The arrest was effected at the Eteringbang Landing on the Cuyuni River.
The 29-year-old illegal immigrant, believed to be from Venezuela, is being processed for court.
Meanwhile, the police also said that ranks in ‘F’ Division yesterday morning, about 06:30hrs, stopped and searched a motor lorry at Seven Miles Potaro and found concealed 393 grams of cannabis and 100 live rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Two persons have been detained and are assisting with the investigation.
