Four days have passed since Melissa Andrews, 30, of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/ Linden Highway was dealt several brutal chops about her body by her then partner Ian English, 39.
According to sources, Andrews, who had undergone two surgeries, is now recovering at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). She is responsive and is in a state of recovery after the incident. The woman’s partner committed suicide following the act.
Andrews and English had an argument during the course of the day over infidelities in the relationship. A neighbour who was talking to the couple at the time, witnessed English arming himself with a cutlass.
He subsequently used the weapon to inflict several chops about Andrews’s body. Andrews, was admitted to hospital in a critical condition following the incident.
When asked about what might have triggered the brutal act, the woman’s sister claimed not to know a reason for the attack.
Police investigations revealed that Andrews and English shared a relationship for about four years. That relationship saw the birth of one child. English was later found hanging from a cement sling, 200 feet away from the weapon.
