Dear Editor,
On the 4th November, 2018, Sunday morning at about 5:15hrs, my wife and I went to the La Penitence Market to shop vegetables and fruits. I drove out of Diamond Housing Scheme, on the East Bank of Demerara, Guyana, through a heavy downpour and between Fifth to Third Avenue on the access road, the area was flooded. I stopped and had a good look of what could have been the cause. The canal to the northern side was reasonable, but on the southern side, a construction by residents caused the road to flood; two high concreted shoulders and bridges and blocked drainage.
In addition, just to the front of the Guyana National Stadium, Providence is another cause of alarm. The sidewalk drainage outlets are all blocked and the rainwater flooded the eastern carriageway public road.
I am making an appeal for one and all, could the relevant authorities to clear the above blockages.
Yours co-operatively,
Parmanand Ram.
