A 35-year-old miner, Parsram Ramnauth also known as Sunil, from Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, was yesterday remanded to prison for the murder of Daniel George, 20, a miner of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo.
It was alleged that on October 16, 2018, Parsram Ramnauth at the Barakat Landing, Mazaruni River, he murdered Daniel George around 20:00hrs.
The man, who wasn’t represented by an attorney, wasn’t entitled to plead to the charge that Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan read to him before the court.
Investigations revealed that both the deceased and Ramnauth were imbibing at a shop, when an argument erupted over cigarettes.
Ramnauth then fatally stabbed the deceased in his abdomen and right eye with a knife.
He told Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, that “four man bank meh, and beat meh up. Look how my eye black and blue and it de swell up bad, but it gone down now.”
The matter was adjourned to October 31, 2018 at the Bartica Magistrate’s court.
