The 11th edition of the Seven Seas cycle competition has been set for Saturday at the National Park. Riders will compete in the senior 35-lap, Junior/Juveniles 10-lap, Veteran U50 5-lap and Mountain Bike 5-lap.
The defending champions are Raul Leal in the 35-lap event, Ian Jackson Veteran U50, Nigel Duguid Jr Junior/Juveniles and Nigel Jacobs Mountain Bike 5-lap.
The cyclists will collide again on August 5 in the Reagan Rodrigues Memorial 46-mile road race which is being sponsored by Ricks and Sari Agro Industries.
The race will commence at the Demerara Harbour Bride and proceed to Bushy Park before returning to the starting point for the finish. Jamaul John won the senior category in last year’s event, while Briton John won the juniors; Talim Shaw and Ian Jackson are the defending champions for the Mountain Bike and Veteran categories respectively.
Rodrigues was a former champion motor racer and cyclist as well as a former president of the Guyana Cycling Federation.
