One week after Police Prosecutor, Shawn Gonsalves, closed its case against a Corentyne, Berbice pensioner, who is charged with causing the death of another man, his lawyer will make closing arguments in the case on July 27.
Sixty-seven-year-old Cromwell McDonald was charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
It is alleged that on October 28, last, at Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara, he drove motor vehicle PHH 5116 in a dangerous manner causing the death of Narine Persaud.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge and he is currently out on $400,000 bail.
His trial is being conducted by Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
According to information, on the day in question, McDonald was driving along the Grove Public Road when he allegedly swerved from another vehicle and collided with Persaud who was standing at the side of the road.
