53-year-old Ganesh Lall was yesterday charged with the murder of his nephew, when he appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess at the Wales Magistrate’s Court
The charges against Lall stem from the discovery of 30-year-old Rajendra Lall Hira who was found motionless in a toilet at his lot 76 Sixth Street, Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara home in the wee hours of July 16, last.
The accused was remanded to prison and the case transferred to Leonora Magistrate’s Court where it will be next heard on September 11.
According to police, investigators discovered marks of violence around the dead man’s neck and an autopsy revealed that he died from compression injuries to the neck. Three persons were taken into custody including the uncle. Investigations revealed that the victim, who was an alcoholic, went home about 01:30hrs and about 05:30hrs was discovered seated motionless on a toilet. There was no sign of forced entry into the home.
