A jealous Venezuelan was stabbed to death at around 01:50 hrs on Saturday after he was seen beating his spouse for dancing with another man.
Police identified the victim as Rafael Angel Gonsale Prieto. The killing occurred at Black Water, Cuyuni.
Police have arrested the suspect, Francisco Hosea De Matos, 27, a gold miner of Monkey Mountain and Lot 87 Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara.Police say that the suspect fled the scene, but was later apprehended.
According to information reaching this publication, Rafael Prieto, 27, and his partner, 32-year-old Laurens Susana Rodriguez Cabrera, a Venezuelan, went to a restaurant and bar at Black Water, Cuyuni, where he found her dancing with another man.
Annoyed at this, Rafael pushed the woman to the ground and sat on her chest, and then proceeded to use a knife to cut off her hair. Upon seeing this, Francisco went to the woman’s rescue.
The suspect then dealt Rafael several stabs about the body with a knife. The victim received injuries to his upper lip, upper left arm and his abdomen, causing his intestines to protrude.
A post mortem examination will be conducted on Rafael’s remains in the coming week.
