An instructor attached to the Buddy’s Gym was yesterday charged and released on $50,000 bail for allegedly stabbing his sister.
Thirty-two-year-old Darius Ramsammy of Castello Housing Scheme, Georgetown appeared before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The allegation against Ramsammy is that on June 16, at Castello Housing Scheme, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Danatta Bobb. He denied the charge after it was read to him by the Magistrate.
Ramsammy was represented by Attorney-at-Law Everton Lammy-Singh, who asked that his client be released on his own recognizance (self bail).
The lawyer told the court that on the day in question, his client and his sister had a disagreement and he acted in self-defence.
Police Prosecutor Simone Payne had no objections to bail being granted to the defendant.
No facts of the matter were disclosed.
The Magistrate after listening to the prosecutor granted the defendant bail to the tune of $50,000. He was instructed to make his next court appearance on July 18.
