Great fanfare for opening a roundabout

DEAR EDITOR,
I noticed the great fanfare that surrounded the opening of the Carifesta Avenue roundabout. The press reported that several Ministers attended and our ‘hard-working’ Prime Minister cut the ribbon, something he seems to be doing a lot of.
For me, it is perplexing that something as simple as declaring opening a stretch of road attracted such a high-level Government presence. Certainly, the Ministers and the Prime Minister could have been at their desks doing the people’s work. But then again the Administration needs a stage show to tell us that the “Journey to the Good Life continues”.
Maybe had our Government been harder at work, they may have had much more to show for themselves than a roundabout; or ‘green’ buildings; or a hardly used drill square, etc.
I cannot help but wonder whether we will next see our Ministers commissioning dog kennels, pigsties and cow pens. I want to urge our highly rewarded Ministers to work hard and you will have more than roundabouts to talk about.
