Jun 04, 2018 Letters
Dear Editor,
I read with interest the letter by Albert Baldeo published in Kaieteur News of Saturday, June 2, 2018, titled ‘ Honouring the Architects of Independence.’
I congratulate him for his efforts and share the general tenor of his letter.
In fact, our media and Leaders need to do much more to honour those who laid the foundations for our Society and the Anti-imperialist warfare of Post-World War II.
As a young activist in my teens in the struggle in the early 50’s, Baldeo’s letter has one error.
When the People’s Progressive Party was established, we avoided having the position of Leader.
However, the first Chairman of the People’s Progressive Party was Linden Forbes Sampson Burnham who with consummate skill and command of the English Language along with Dr. Cheddi Jagan articulated the case for self-government and independence.
