We should stand with Govt. to bring errant public officials to justice

DEAR EDITOR,
In 2015, the nation voted with great enthusiasm for the Coalition Government to bring back the issue of transparency, accountability and democracy to a country that seemed to be void of fairness, equity, justice and transparency for years.
It was this APNU+AFC Government that saw the reestablishment of the Procurement Board/Commission and the Integrity Commission, to aid in the process of restoring and revitalizing the faith in a democratic system, and the judiciary to provide answers to the many questions that have been asked with regard to a number of gross violations in our nation.
Our judicial system, which has been for years shrouded in secrecy, bribery and corruption, now provides citizens with a sense of judicial satisfaction and fairness, as we battle with the many complex issues of irregularities.
I believe that it is only fair that we allow the government to exercise jurisprudence and rely on the judicial aptitude and ability.
The recent case of charges brought against two former members of the PPP were not, according to the Minister of State, politically motivated or directed, but rather, stemmed from the results of elaborate investigation procedures.
Editor, the previous administration, as it has been public knowledge, had allowed the general populace to believe that they care about the socio political development of this nation, hence the attack on what I call tit for tat and racial politics, when we in fact know that the opposite is true.
The attempt of divisiveness will not be sustainable if we are to survive the rigours of true democracy as a united and cohesive nation.
It is clear to see that this government remains committed to transparency by the setting up of various agencies and to ending corruption at all levels. We, the Guyanese citizens should stand with the government to ensure that those who hold public office, and who engage in malfeasance while in office, be brought to justice.
