Drug pushers will be eradicated wherever they are, the law will go after them. That’s the watchword of the police as they have successfully conducted another drug eradication exercise.
Police in ‘B’ Division led by a senior officer and nine other ranks between the hours of 04:00 hours and 16:30 hrs on Thursday travelled up the Canje River and ventured to a place called Ebini Creek. During the exercise, the ranks uncovered one field measuring 1 ½ acres with over 300 marijuana plants. The plants, which measured between one and six inches in height and weighed about 750 kg were all destroyed.
The ranks also uncovered a camp and 4 kg 818 grams of leaves, seeds and stems of compressed marijuana stashed in salt bags. The police also found one Honda water pump and a spray can.
One man, Terrence Joseph, called “Old man”, 25, of Bara Cara, Canje Creek and Mai Mai Dam, Angoy’s Avenue , New Amsterdam, Berbice who was seen in the vicinity of the camp was pursued and arrested . He is in custody.
