Several news agencies reported that a trio, including of a pensioner, will soon be charged with threatening to assassinate His Excellency President David Granger. This is the third time, in the span of about a year, that a person or group of persons has reportedly threatened to assassinate the President. Whether those persons were/are indeed serious is a matter for the Police Force to determine.
What is striking to me is somewhat the regularity that persons are seemingly making threats to the President’s life. It could very well shine a light on his popularity or unpopularity in this case. The fact remains that none of his predecessors, as far as the public knows, has received the level of threat he is receiving.
Mr President, if indeed the accusations are true, it may be wise to change gear and adopt a more endearing approach in general governance for a start.
Yours sincerely
Patricia Persaud
