A vendor was robbed at gunpoint yesterday at 02:00hrs while selling greens from his truck on North Road.
The man who is known as ‘Greens Boy,’ said he was on his truck going about his daily business of selling when a gunman came up from the back and placed a gun to his spine while demanding money and his cell phone. He said he pushed away the gunman’s hand and this caused the bandit to place the gun to his head at which point, he took away his sales for the day and cell phone valued $80,000.
‘Greens Boy’ said he can identify the bandit if he sees him and is asking for more security at the market so that vendors can get to ply their trade in peace.
He said that it has been a steady occurrence whereas vendors are often robbed but are afraid to come forward lest the perpetrators return.
This attack comes just after market vendor and father of one, 62-year-old Doodnauth Danrasi was shot and robbed just after he had finished offloading stocks onto his stall located just in front of Twin’s Pharmacy near La Penitence Market, Georgetown.
