Dear Editor,
Our two primary political leaders, President Granger and Opposition Leader Jagdeo lack any sort of vision for the future of our country. They both hold unique and important roles when it comes to gathering votes every election cycle (as they each have their fair share of strong devotees) but when have they ever shared their vision for Guyana?
During the 2015 elections cycle, the young people were treated to a form of politics that included several forms of image-tarnishing, political pandering and vague promises. What we never got was a full vision from either of the main parties.
Where are the Guyanese political leaders who can stand up on a platform and inspire hope for our future? Where are the Barack Obamas, Hillary Clintons and Emmanuel Macrons?
Today, the leaders at the top level are all old timers, who have played the political game in Guyana for decades. Where are our young vibrant leaders who have a 21st century vision for a better Guyana? Where are our Bernie Sanders who are willing to stand up against the status quo and fight for a better future?
Guyana is at a pivotal point where a large group of young and educated people are emerging ready to take charge of the future of their country. But, where is the leader to inspire them?
And if we must stick with Granger or Jagdeo, will either of them dare to dream? To dream for our future? To dream for the country? Think of the wonders we can do if we unify Guyana under one dream.
Sincerely,
Concerned Student
