The body which was discovered in the Pomeroon River last Monday, has been identified as 26-year-old Orlando Naughton of Charity squatting area, Pomeroon.
According to police, the dead man was identified by his father, Keith Naughton, who approached ranks at the Charity Police Station last Tuesday, and informed police that the unidentified person was his son.
The deceased, Orlando, who worked as a labourer on the Charity Waterfront, was last seen by his father on Friday evening. Keith Naughton explained that the young man lived alone in his Charity home, and had a drinking problem.
Naughton’s body was spotted by residents floating face down in the Pomeroon River, within the vicinity of Grant Stelling Hope, Lower Pomeroon.
Police claim that there were no marks of violence to suggest foul play.
