Good Friday is a time some people does frighten to do anything. Christians believe that is de day when de Lord died and since de Romans crucify him at midday people does either go in church or stay home.
Nuff li’l boy get licks or fall from tree because he climb it at midday. That is when dem parents does holler pun li’l children to come down from de tree. But when a li’l boy hungry he ain’t got time wid who seh what.
Of course dem boys see people fall from tree pun Good Friday. Dem also see people fall from tree pun odda days, like de one that fall pun a concrete fence from a breadfruit tree. That is why dem don’t worry too much wid who seh dem mustn’t climb pun Good Friday.
Pun Good Friday dem boys notice that dem hardly had car pun de road. Some church didn’t have space in de car park because Good Friday is one of de few days people does go to church. That was one of de few days Guyana didn’t have a road accident. People was so happy that dem wish every day was Good Friday.
Then dem hear how people get kill. De sun barely go down when one man stab another one. Deh had a quarrel over money and some people seh dem was quarrelling over de 30 pieces of silver that Judas get when he betray Christ.
By nightfall, a lady decide to visit she fella but he had something else suh when de odda one come, she see wha she didn’t want and she eye get red. She start a fight and de next thing dem boys hear is that she dead. Now people saying that she did want do like Christ and die on Good Friday.
But de soldier who play ‘war break’ wid he wife tek de cake. People preparing to fly kite but he was playing wid a gun. He get vex and he empty he gun pun de lady.
Now plenty people got reason to feel sad when is Good Friday.
Talk half and pray fuh peace prevail from today.
