Bandit captured after shooting C’tyne man

Prompt action by police in B’ Division has led to the capture of a bandit who shot a 22-year-old man after invading the family’s Lot 1 High Reef, Albion, Corentyne home.
Jagdeo ‘Chucky’ Ganesh, 26, a pump operator was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital nursing a gunshot wound to his right arm and a broken wrist.
The attack was carried out at around 20.30 hrs by six bandits.
Ranks from a mobile patrol captured one of the suspects shortly after at Topoo, Albian, Corentyne.
The injured man’s 15-year-old nephew recounted that he was texting on his phone in the bottom flat when the men ran in and ordered him to remain still.
“We family friend was here and he was coming in back from outside and the man dem walk in and tell everybody not to move. After dem come in me nanny and grandfather went in dem room, so after like he hear dem man come in he get up and brace the bedroom door and dem fire a shot at the door”, the fifteen-year-old said.
Gangapersaud Ganesh, the father of Jagdeo Ganesh recounted that the men entered the home through the back door which was left ajar.

“When dem come in dem ask for the head for the house and dem fire the load but me went in the room with me wife bracing the door”.
According to Jagdeo’s father, there was money on the dining table which the men took, along with two cellphones. After firing close to six shots in the home and ‘broadsiding’ the family, the men escaped.
Approximately $300,000 was stolen, along with $350 US and two cell phones were stolen.
It was reported that police officers responded promptly to the scene and based on information gathered, the ranks went to a location at Topoo, Albion, Corentyne and arrested a 22 year-old suspect in whose possession a black T-shirt which looks similar to the one used to conceal the suspect’s face during the commission of the crime, was found in his crotch.
The suspect has since admitted to the crime, and after being arrested, revealed the identities of his accomplices and led investigators to an area a short distance from where he was apprehended and handed over the following:
A .32 Revolver with two live rounds and four spent shells, two bicycles and a cutlass were also recovered.
The suspect has since confessed to being part of a gang that committed the robberies at Ankerville, Port Mourant a week ago on a pensioner from the same High Reef Area.
During the Ankerville, Port Mourant robbery the men stole cash, cellphones, tablets, jewelry and sexually assaulted one of the female victims before they escaped. She was stripped naked during the ordeal. Meanwhile, the pensioner which he admitted to robbing was relieved of $20,000 and $100 US.
The Commander assured, “we will not rest until the others are caught”.
