GFF Elite League action continues at the city’s Mecca, GFC ground this evening with two matches from 18:00hrs. East Demerara’s Ann’s Grove United opposes Western Tigers in the first game while Cougars of Berbice fame will match skills with Fruta Conquerors in the feature showdown.
Currently sitting at the number two spot in the points table, Conquerors will hope for a huge margin of victory against the bottom of the table Cougars which has lost all six of their matches played, conceding 21 goals while only netting a meager three.
Veteran Striker, Gregory “Jackie Chan” Richardson who leads Conquerors’ scoring with three goals will be one of the players to watch. Ann’s Grove are currently ranked seventh out of the ten teams in the league and will have a tough time trying to come away with any points when they match skills with the table toppers Western Tigers in the opening encounter.
The Tigers are roaring with much help from the free scoring trio of Andrew Murray Jnr., Hubert Pedro and Colin Nelson who all are tied on the goal scoring charts in second place with four each.
Meanwhile, at the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ground on Sunday, two matches will be played. The main attraction pits the defending champions GDF against Milerock from Upper Demerara while the curtain raiser brings together Buxton and New Amsterdam United from 17:30hrs.
