The body of a man who is said to be middle aged was removed from a hotel on South Road yesterday afternoon.
Police detectives suspect that the death might have been suicide related but they are not ruling out foul play.
Kaieteur News was informed that the man checked into the hotel alone on Tuesday and paid for a one day stay at the facility.
However, hotel staff could not immediately confirm if the man had anyone visit him during the period he was staying at the hotel.
Detectives indicated that they were able to remove a glass with a liquid inside which they suspect to be poison.
That, however, has to be tested to ascertain what exactly was in the glass found in the man’s room.
Yesterday, when this publication visited the location the police crime scene investigators were on site.
The hotel’s management did entertain questions but could not provide much information as they claimed that the privacy of the customer was being respected.
However, they did indicate that the footage for the entrance to the facility was handed over to the police so that they could conduct their investigations into the matter.
