Teen mom poisons self and one-year-old son.
A 19-year-old mother of Lot 161 Number 59 Village, Corentyne, Berbice is currently a patient at the Skeldon Public Hospital along with her one-year-old infant after she conmsumed a poisonous substance suspected to be gramoxone and feeding the drug to her baby.
According to reports, Roshanie Ramlakhan, a housewife, and her husband, Dinesh Singh, 23, a carpenter had an argument on Friday when about 08:30 hrs. On the said date, the victim took her son, Adi Singh, and left their home for an unknown destination.
At approximately 09:30 hrs on the said date, the victim was found lying in the bushes at Number 61 Village in a semi-conscious state with a greenish substance emanating from her mouth while her baby was in a sitting position crying uncontrollably.
The victim was questioned by ranks at the scene and she revealed that she consumed gramoxone and had given her son some to drink as well.
Ramlakhan and her son were escorted to Skeldon Hospital where they were both admitted.
Police are investigating.
