In a press statement refuting an article carried by this publication yesterday captioned ‘Commander removed as investigation into harassment launched’ the Guyana Police Force has come out in defence of the senior officer, stating that he has an impeccable track record and that the article carried by this newspaper is inaccurate and misleading.
The force however did confirm that its Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating a claim of harassment leveled against the commander.
The police are claiming that the claim was made by an ex-member of the force who was since fired for corrupt transactions.
The police press statement reported that the rank was dismissed for corrupt practices and other infractions.
In the statement, also, the force claimed that the commander’s posting to ‘D’ Division was temporary. At the moment, a junior officer to Karimbaksh is manning ‘E’ Division.
